Where the money goes:

Project/Activity brief and purpose:  The objective of the socio-economic opportunities mapping in Darfur is to provide UNDP and the NSDDRC and other stakeholders with knowledge and information that clearly identify realistic reintegration opportunities for DDR participant’s across different locations throughout the three states of Darfur. Knowledge data and information gathered from the mapping exercise will be crucial to the UNDP and other partners/stakeholders towards the design and execution of a successful reintegration programme in Darfur. The ultimate purpose of the process is to devise a tool to help ex-combatants find education and employment opportunities, in order for them to achieve higher status and accept in the community and eventually contribute to reestablishing stability and assist the peace building developments in Darfur.

Key activities:  Management and support during project start-up and implementation; Liaising and managing relationships with key stakeholders; Supervising, finalizing and translating tools of the assignment, ready for data-base use; Administration and logistics including organizing transport during field work in the three states of Darfur; Data-base design and management; Translation and quality control and report writing of final outputs; Production of a directory on advanced education and vocational training opportunities; Coordination on management of the overall assignment in close collaboration with TI's programme manager.
