Empowerment and Transition

Building a peaceful, democratic, and just future through a resilient and enabled civil society

We strive to empower a resilient Sudanese civil society that effectively shapes a peaceful, democratic, and just future through enhanced capacity, innovative tools, and an enabling civic environment secured by sustained advocacy.

Context: Sudan's Civic Landscape

The 2023 conflict fundamentally altered Sudan's civil society landscape, reversing peace efforts and causing a severe humanitarian crisis. While resilient in providing emergency aid, the sector faces strained capacity and a shrinking civic space, hindering both immediate response and long-term recovery. Internal challenges like eroded trust, fragmentation, and skill gaps, alongside past ineffective interventions and misaligned international expectations, further complicate the situation.

Recognizing this complexity, SUDIA's 2025-2030 strategy focuses on strengthening Sudanese civil society's resilience and effectiveness. We prioritize building organizational capacity, fostering collaboration, promoting accountability, and equipping CSOs with specialized skills for Sudan's multifaceted challenges. Our commitment includes long-term engagement, realistic goals with partners, and building trust through tangible impact and transparent governance.
